Hannah’s message to members

It has been the honour of my life to serve the community that shaped me as a Member of the Senedd since 2016. I am who I am and where I am because of where I come from – my politics and values were shaped by when and where I grew up here in North Wales.

The next Senedd elections in 2026 will bring a unique combination of change and challenge – from the way in which we elect our representatives and a new large and diverse constituency, to reconnecting with our communities and making the case to once again vote Welsh Labour.

We need a seasoned and effective campaigner with a track record of winning elections, an experienced and proven politician who can take on our opposition and an authentic and hard-working representative with a history of reaching out.

That’s why I am asking you to vote for me to be the lead candidate on the Labour Party list in the new Senedd constituency of Clwyd.

I live in the new Clwyd constituency, my home is here and there would be no greater privilege than being given the opportunity to continue to serve our home in the Senedd.

I hope you can put your trust in me to lead our list of candidates for the coming election. I know that, together, we can and will collectively continue to put our Labour values into practice and to make a difference for our communities, our people and our country.

A bit about Hannah

✓ An active Labour Party member for 25 years, holding positions at every level of the party from Chair of Young Labour to CLP Secretary.

✓ A trade unionist who worked in the trade union movement both in London and here at home in Wales before being elected – a member of Unite and Unison.

✓ An effective campaigner for change, whether that is for a better deal at work or equality and social justice – from being part of the campaign for equal marriage, defending and extending workers’ rights or, more recently, on tackling sexual harassment and bullying.

✓ An advocate for our area, setting up the first Cross Party Group for North Wales when newly elected and securing investment into our corner of the country, including the transformative Theatr Clwyd redevelopment.

✓ A legislator who led on the Social Partnership and Public Procurement (Wales) Act, the most pro-trade union law of the devolution era.

✓ A reformer, committed to making our politics the best it can be and, as Chair of the Standards of Conduct Committee, taking through a programme of work aimed at restoring trust and transparency in politicians, politics and the processes that underpin it.

✓ A representative rooted in the community and committed to making meaningful change for the country:

– from championing our town centres locally in driving investment into our high streets or how I live my own life and nationally through establishing Wales’ Transforming Towns approach

– to taking part in local litter picks and supporting action to reduce plastic pollution, alongside launching the consultation that led to the ban of the most commonly littered single use plastics in Wales

– speaking up for workers... in workplaces, on the picket line and by bringing in policies on fair work and to teach the next generation of workers and employers about the positive force of trade unions and collective action

Serving the community that shaped me

Since 2016 I have...

✓ Had a visible town centre office.

✓ Held regular street surgeries across the constituency alongside the usual advice sessions in community locations.

✓ Assisted and provided advice to nearly 6,000 constituents.

✓ Made the most of the summer break from the Senedd to get out on the ground with newsletters and surveys on a range of key issues including transport and health.

✓ Organised a wide range of events, from funding fairs to transport forums and an annual democracy in action day for secondary school students.

Serving the new Clwyd constituency

From 2026 I will...

✓ Make sure I have a visible base in both the Clwyd East and Clwyd North parts of the constituency.

✓ Continue to be open and accessible with a regular rotation of advice sessions and informal drop-in style events across communities.

✓ Have a team fully equipped to support constituents the length and breadth of Clwyd.

✓ Work with colleagues in our Labour movement to engage with people and places on the issues that matter to them.

✓ Continue to engage with and support organisations and individuals through regular events and a range of initiatives.

Winning Clwyd for Labour

At the next election we will have to rise to a real challenge to win the new Clwyd constituency and win for Labour.

We face a new electoral system, the push of populism and we are the party of power in both Wales and Westminster. Change is a powerful campaign call but it is only Labour that can change our communities and country for the better.

And we do that by working together as a Labour Party, as Labour colleagues – MPs, MSs and Councillors – and as a Labour Movement.

Rooted in our communities and guided by our Labour values, we can build on our record of change, supporting our young people through initiatives like the Educational Maintenance Allowance and making sure there are opportunities for future generations in our area.

Recognising that social, economic and environmental justice go hand in hand. Prioritising health, housing and social care. Investing in our public services and those who provide our services. Empowering our people and places in the interests of both country and community – taking the next steps when it comes to the Welsh way of social partnership to create jobs, growth and an economy that works for Wales and for workers too.

Together, we can continue to make a difference and win Wales for Labour.

It would be a privilege to take a leading role in our campaign and to serve the new constituency of Clwyd.
